- Former underage World Championship winner Luizomar de Moura will lead the senior women’s team for the next four years.
- The first official competition of the year for the national team will be the XVI Pan American Cup to be held in Peru in the month of June.
Lima, January 25th, 2017.- Welcome Luizomar, let’s go Peru, road to Tokyo 2020!, That was how the senior national pre-selection welcomed the successful Brazilian coach Luizomar de Moura, who dreams of taking our country to the Summer Olympic Games Of Tokyo 2020.
World champion with his country at the 2005 U18 World Championship in China; 2007 U20 World Chapionship in Thailand; 2009 U18 World Championship also in Thailand; and 2012 Club World Championship in Doha with Osasco Volleyball Club. These are just some of the many titles coach De Moura has achieved in the more than 30 years of his life that he has dedicated to his country’s volleyball.
“It is an honor for me to lead the Peruvian team, especially in a country that is passionate about volleyball, a country with a great volleyball tradition, and also an Summer Olympics medal holder that has made history in the world. You and I have a great dream in common, that Peru returns to the Olympic Games and my dream is to lead that team, we will work together to achieve this, it is my desire, my greatest desire and I will fight for it” said coach De Moura.
The presentation ceremony was chaired by the president of the Peruvian Volleyball Federation, MBA Diana Gonzales, who was accompanied at the table of honor by the president of the Peruvian Institute of Sports (IPD) Abg. Oscar Fernández and the coaches of the junior and youth categories, Natalia Malaga and Marco Queiroga.
“For us it is a great joy and privilege to count on Luizomar as coach of the senior team, his great history of achievements make him the best one for the team, we trust in his commitment to take our country to the highest positions and return the peruvian volleyball to the glory” said the FPV president, Diana Gonzales.
The first challenge of the new coach will be in June at the XVI Pan American Cup, in July De Moura will guide the selection in Group 2 of the FIVB World Grand Prix, whose first leg will be held in Chiclayo, Peru.
In August he will travel to Colombia with the white-and-reds to the South American Championship and in October will coach the team at the 2018 World Championship Qualifying Tournament that will be held in Peru and grants a berth for next year’s Senior World Championship in Japan.
